Aussie Geek Podcast #000 :: You Have Arrived
Welcome to the Aussie Geek Podcast! This has involved a lot of planning and has been a while coming, but we made it.
This is a test podcast as well as to let you know you have arrived at the brand new Aussie Geek Podcast. This will also help everyone update their feed for the blog.
We are still configuring iTunes and will let you know when that is all set and ready to use.

@Chris: This is indeed a replacement for the GGP. All of the new episodes will come through this site. And yes, you did indeed find the RSS in that huge flaming RSS link in the top-right corner.

@Herne Yup your right, there is still a lot on the “To-Do” list. Originally the smilies had a border - we got rid of it and in posts it would not matter. Here in the comments we have a different background. We had missed that. So you going to find little things like that and we will be working at tweaking the site constantly. Have patience!

I couldn’t load this site an hour ago - but it’s working now. (I must watch the video - since it’s about the web site being down).

Love the new website look, much more options, and can’t wait to see the show. Question - are you going to be changing the format of the show much? Just curious.
Dave, can you please find a program that arranges desktop icons by… phallic symbols?
@Terry thanks Terry yup the options are great and this is just the beginning! Basically yes there will be some changes to the show. But it won’t be massive changes. We are having new segments maybe dropping one or changing others a bit.
But it is all a refinement and making the show better and more appealing for you guys. We will be guided by the feedback.
The initial change to our own site is a massive change in itself. We are taking a bit of time now to get things really pumping here.

@Robbed we’re having to repeat the “AGP” mantra ourselves… There’s gonna be some outtakes in the first show I suspect.
@Herne (and others) to get your own icons for the site just sign up to gravatar with the same email address you use for commenting. Whichever avatar you associate with the email address will show up on your comments.
I notice that KnightWise hasn’t posted here yet, I had a chuckle at his rant on GGP#90.
KW you’ve got to get out more. No, on the other hand I would love to see you try out Comodo Firewall - your head would explode with the number of times that you have approve programs after first installation (it settles down after that).

I really like Comodo Firewall - yup it is an annoying bastard but it is tighter then a fishes arse. That in addition to the fact that you know everything that is running and happening on your PC. Excellent choice of Firewall for the security conscious that is for sure.

I may be stupid but can you tell me.
1 How do you find this podcast other than going through all the blog post pages until you find it. It is not obvious from the home page to me.
2 I can not down load the mp3 version either from the the rss feed or the blog page. Is this working? Will play online.
3 Can’t find the aussie geek posdcast on iTunes at all

@SighKo: 1. Your right, it is not obvious. But this bit of audio here is not the show (Hence the 000 episode number). It is a bit of audio we have placed here so that people who listened to the show before it became the Aussie Geek Podcast will know they have the right place. We are still working on the site and tweaking things out. Since we have not released a podcast yet - we are yet to cross that bridge.
2. The download is working. Right click and save link as - working fine for me and every one else. I just tested the rss feed and that is working as well. I have no idea what the issue is - what are you doing to try and download it? If that flash player is working (which it is) that means the file is there and able to be downloaded - as it is the same link.
3. That is because it is not in iTunes yet. Basically we have an issue with a WordPress plugin called PodPress. Actually any podcaster that uses PodPress and upgraded to WordPress 2.6 is having problems right now - it is broken and with it your podcasts. This happened on the 16th of July - that was 1 day before we launched here. So we are expecting that an update will arrive in the next few days. It is critical when you submit to iTunes - good timing puts you on the “Featured Podcasts” page - bad - for example: submitting to iTunes then not updating the show for 2-3 weeks makes for bad iTunes mojo. SO we are waiting for that magic timing in an effort to get featured in iTunes.
So nope all good questions and nope your not stupid. I hope that answers all your questions adequately.

I can get ep 000 with right click fine, should have tried that duh!. I just figured if I clicked on the link it would cause the browser to prompt to open or save the file.
Can’t wait for the podcast to start for real, makes driving to work bearable.

@chris - Lighten up dude, its a joke, actually to be totally truthful we were testing the plugin I was editing and we found that your comments merited the response.
It was one of the first live posts and you happened to be the first commenter who asked a weird question in the first 5 minutes of it being up.
If you prefer I’ll remove the images from your comments.
That’s right Chris - we did it to mainly check the plugin. Nothing in it mate and just a bit of fun. Thought the listeners were pretty good sports overall and we are mucking about.
Let us know if you want it removed.

@Nigel You won’t get anything in iTunes yet. We are affected by the update to WordPress breaking an essential plugin. We are waiting for that upgrade to both submit the podcast to iTunes and actually start churning out shows. Check out this post for all the details:

NP Nigel… it is starting to give us the shits. The co-hosts and myself are tearing our hair out. But there is not much we can do. The upgrade to the plugin was supposed to happen a week ago!
Ok OK … enough with the Nagging .. Here I am ! First of all I want to congratulate Ciat Dave and Keith for there new show. Aussie-Geek will not be something i’ll get used to quickly .. but hey. It sure beats that fracking GGP blogserver that was hooked up to some christmas lights for the last few weeks. Never mind you had 500 apu’s running around trying to keep the thing in the air. You would have more luck aviating the Eiffel tower.
One of the reasons I did not come down right away because I was on holiday. I was inspecting the state of the French Female population in the south of France.. They are doing .. “juuust fine!”. One of the other reasons why I commented so late is because I had to wait for Herne’s stench to dissipate. He somehow managed to stink up the brand-new-blogg smell that you had. So after opening some “popup windows” it got better. The all impotent Dough has somehow managed to sit down on your background judging by the dents and scratches .. So he should pay more attention.
Thanx for enjoying my rant on the last GGP ( I went out swearing ) I hope you like the style. If you are easily offended by my language ? then what the flying FUCK are you doing reading this post (lol).
Oh yeah , never mind that the abbreviation of the podcast sounds like some kind of discarded graphics card standard ,what the crap is going on with Keith. Is he an Aussie too know ?
