Calgoo Now Free
Great news today that Calgoo has decided to offer their services for free. Calgoo offers Calendar and sharing sync solutions for home and business. As of the 22nd of July 2008, after noon Pacific Time you will find that any and all their features and services are now FREE.
It appears that Calgoo are looking at advertizing business models. This also marks the release of Version 2.0 of their service. I am not positive but I am guessing that their services are becoming ad supported. Rather than looking at paid solutions for business or enterprise solutions.
Yet to be seen how that it going to look. I trust that they are looking at professional type stuff and not the flashing madness that some services go for. No mention if they are going to offer a “remove the ads for a fee” alternative either.
Calgoo do a very nice job of syncing Calendar’s across services and platforms. Best known for their Google Calendar support for syncing between iCal and Outlook. If my memory serves me correctly this is two way sync. Especially useful for syncing say a Mac and a PC. Not only that you can share and collaborate on multiple calendars and get an agenda on your mobile phone. More on their features can be found on their website.
So if your interested go and check out Calgoo. They have been around since August 2006 and built a pretty solid platform. It will be interesting to see how an ads are going affect the service. However the now free tag is the way that services seem to want to go and something has to pay for the bandwidth.
If you want to know what the service cost before the free version, go have a look. If the link is broken then they have updated the website already. If your looking for a cross platform, multi-format calendar solution this just might be for you. Might be worth the second look now it’s free.
