CPU vs GPU

This video is the best explination of the difference between a CPU rendering and image, and a GPU rendering an image as done by the Mythbuster boys!

Only Adam and Jamie could come up with a simple and innovative way to describe it to hundreds of people at the latest NVISION conference held by Nvidia.

As you can expect it takes the form of a highly complex method and creation of awesome machinery for them to explain it.

My advice?

  1. If something’s worth doing right, it’s worth doing in 80 milliseconds using a lot of really cool tech!

    (or by blowing something up)

(No, that doesn’t include your inflatables, Knightwise.)

  2. Now that is cool. Plain and simple. Bloody awesome.

  3. Now that is cool shit…..

  4. I published the same video on my own blog as well. What an awesome paintball machine! I think this also clearly illustrates the reasoning behind the movement of allowing the GPU to perform calculations versus doing everything via the CPU. Now we easily know why the Folding@Hme project kicks ass on a GPU.
