  2. Great - for a while there I thought that Keith had gone walkabout (AWOL)

  3. Oh sure… blame the Herne!

Dave gets more amusing as the podcast progresses…

We vote up here on Oct 13th… Get ready for Jack Layton as PM.

  4. Geez! The AGP outtakes are starting to remind me of a Burt Reynolds movies where the bloopers at the end are as funny or funnier than the show was!

  5. love the idea of jabbify but I want something behind the firewall at work.

btw - webkit runs everywhere. windows mobile, UIQ, S60, linux[android] and ip0wn.

i still have 20 minutes left but outtake section is a brilliant idea. you could run an ad and it would never bother me. would probably bother herne though. heh.

  6. Sysinternals (now Microsoft) have some great utilities. Here is a link to a Microsoft site where you can download the whole suite in one file (only 9mb). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/0e18b180-9b7a-4c49-8120-c47c5a693683.aspx

I started using their apps just before they were taken over by MS - I went onto their website and downloaded everything in sight just in case it got lost at MS.

That MobaLiveCD looks cool - I’ll definitely give that a go (I just installed Linux Puppy on an old old machine - interesting)

  7. Fuck - duplicate

  8. I agree the out-takes are gold :P

Herne, I can’t think of anyone else to blame - at least someone that is at fault! Oh and what have I said this time that was amusing??

I agree Matt, SysInternals apps are awesome. I was in the same boat as you - found them and then they went over to the dark side. But I will say that it seems that the association with MS has not tarnished the actual apps - they are still great and simple as ever. A must have in the tool kit!

    Congrats on being first Eric.

Glad to hear that we are enjoying the show!

Oh and the iTunes reviews are really doing the trick - pushing us up the rankings, be great to have more though - so if anyone has the time we would appreciate it!

  9. venuem sites look like weblogs INC sites.
you can can go to any weblogs property with an i in front.
    example i.engadget.com and i.tuaw.com
I’m not sure why I’m mentioning this. Oh.
    i is the new m

    funny

i think admob is well known out here. one of their guys ran mobile monday silicon valley and went to dotMobi along with the mowser creator.

    i have a fever.

ps - burning CDs is a bit wasteful.

Dave. I did not think about being first. I just wanted to congratulate you on a another episode despite all the real life stuff.

  10. Ouch… I’ve been stung all over my back and chest by bluebottles… those were bad enough, but box jellyfish… crikey. Ouch ouch ouch.

Can’t remember what else I was going to say now. I’ll have to have another listen!

  11. Just listening to the closing moments of the show. Music and bloopers to come. Been trying to do my tax return at the same time… not sure it’s a sensible mix.

Great show fellas. Miss The Cait.

Now wtf is this orange chat thing turned up in the AGP window? Oh right, it was mentioned in the ‘cast. Must investigate.

  12. Remember when I made that audio comment about silly blog names?

    Read this; http://is.gd/3ZGX

  13. Unless knightwise can come up with something pithy/wise/witty instead of endlessly shouting the same gibberish again and again like a rabid baboon on crack, get rid of the incoherent “A word of/from the wise”. As it stands it does nothing to enhance the show.

  14. Always listening SighKo, thanks for the feedback and we are always working on the show, the format and the content. Most listeners seem to like KW’s rants and extremes, but we can always look at different ways to serve up the knight to make him appeal to everyone. But at the same time he is a man unto his own and he is what he is.

Although I have never quite heard him described like that and I am pretty sure that he is not a monkey, mind you Herne might concur… did I say that…

Appreciate the feedback, you have been heard :)

  15. BTW Herne - nice story :) Glad the geek was not among those…

  16. thanks for the show guys. Hurry back Cait.
@SighKo understand the concerns of KW’s rants, but think he keeps in the spirit of this podcast -anything goes. Benefits of podcasts are you can always skip a spot. Hopefully KW keeps his rants coming.

Tried MobaLive CD app, decent performance, especially where you don’t need to reboot or partition. Performance a little slow, but allows for sampling and demoing nicely. thanks for the link Geeks

  17. As for windows 7, it would be nice to have not only a bonus CD but a real pro version that will be mostly text-based if the admin prefers it that way. No extra services installed, no games, windows sounds etc. I would really like the update pop-ups to be handled the way Apple has done, it informs you once and that’s it. No postponing it by up to 4 hours and then surprise - restart enforced. If MS stops treating the users like n00bs the product will look more pro itself. IE8 emulating IE7 is slow and when it’s not emulating IE7 it displays the sites worse than netscape 4 ( I’m talking about IE8 beta). The bottom line, they still have a long way to go and windows 7 won’t be ready for us even when it’s ready.

Did the SPORE producers expect people not to know what DRM is and be quiet? It’s really pathetic that an ‘improved’ version was available right away. Just based of that fact, they should turn it off and forget about the DRM annoyance at all until they can come up with a better system.

I always thought that uTorrent was pronounced ‘micro torrent’ or ‘SI Torrent’ because there’s really no ‘U’ in it. Now I know better :)

    Cheers for the episode, guys.

  18. @SighKo . Ah Finally somebody with some balls who dares to speak up. Good ! Very good indeed. The only thing that is funny .. is the way you choose your words.

First of all, let me clarify the concept behind “Word of the Wise” If it has not become clear to you by now, “The word of the wise” is done “in character” , this means , as a fictional version of my persona. Most of you who know me personally (and from my own podcast) know that I am in fact NOT a stark raving lunatic who goes around shouting all the time (Not a WORD Herne, not a word ! ) The concept behind skitt is a playful, gently disturbed peace of sarcasm at todays technology. We are all geeks here, running in the treadmill of progress. So once in a while , as a lighthearted way to break up the show, the word of the wise touches on the inner frustrations we all have with technology, and it voices these in a hopefully funny way. Hearing somebody rant can be a way to vent these frustrations and snicker along the way .. because you have been there too.

And it is of frustrations that I want to speak with you . Let me quote : “Unless knightwise can come up with something pithy/wise/witty instead of endlessly shouting the same gibberish again and again like a rabid baboon on crack, get rid of the incoherent “A word of/from the wise”. As it stands it does nothing to enhance the show.”

“endlessly shouting the same gibberish again and again like a rabid baboon on crack” Well well .. those are quite a lot of frustrations that you voice there. Bubbling up from inside you. Venting their way out through your fingers and the keyboard ( while frantically twitching your left eyebrow no doubt ) All that anger, frustration, pent up rage .. you almost sound like …. ME ?

Could it be, my young Jedi, that you too need to give in to the forces of the dark side from time to time ? That you need to attack the keyboard and staple the proverbial “Wise” to the wall, just to have it out of your system ? Do you feel the urge to raise your voice, start shouting about what bothers you.. Let go of your control and start waving about like a .. “rabid baboon on crack” just to feel better ? …

Well please .. do so .. Pick up that keyboard and blog-troll away. Take a microphone to your mouth and spew your rage .. Take that lightsaber .. strike me down with it .. and your journey to the dark side will be complete (oops , different movie).

What i’m saying is : The W.O.T.W. is about venting frustrations and knowing that you are not alone when you get mad.. And by the looks of it .. your venting is loooong overdue ;)

  19. Windows 7 … Bah Humbugg.

Dave : Poor poor jellyfish ! Having a Dave jump right on top of you.
