Where’s the Show?

I had a chat with Dave this afternoon to discuss when the next episode of the AGP would be coming out.  His house is almost back in working order save for a spotty wi-fi connection and the fact that his office hasn’t been put together yet. Add to that the fact that all three of us were buried with work stuff this week and you’ve probably guessed already that we’re not going to be able to record a show this weekend.

Thankfully the forum and the blog are here to keep you entertained until we get another show going (which should be next week.

If you haven’t done so already, check out these AGP related items while you wait for the next episode:

A big thanks to Tim for keeping the light on while the rest of us go AWOL.  We’ll try to get a few more posts up over the next week or so to keep you in the loop regarding our favorite geeky topics.  Thanks for hanging in with us, we’ll be back with another regular episode soon!

  1. Thanks KD.

Yeah we are still here! We are busting to get back to normal. Back to normal means weekly shows and the usual stuff.

Things are crazy round here while the finishing touches are put on everything. There were delays getting downstairs done. That means the office. But the desk went in end of last week and this week should mean it’s completion.

THAT means we start to get back to normal. Thanks for everyone’s patience - we are still here and we are looking forward to full steam ahead.

Many thanks to Tim who has been doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff and the odd blog post. It has made a huge difference, thanks mate.

I should also thank “atmo” who is doing some killer forum posts… they really are excellent. I am thinking of having a chat to him about doing some here!

Thanks also and most importantly to listeners faithful. This has been a very stressful time for myself and family and I appreciate your patience and support of the show.

    Nearly there folks!

  2. As always, time away is completely understood. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of pics or perhaps a video tour from Dave of the new office.

Can’t wait for the next episode!

  3. Uh-oh, can we say “pod-fading”…. just kidding ;-)

  4. As much as your joking it is a bit of a slap in the face mate.

If you knew half of what I have been through in the last 4 months you’d know that we have really been lucky to be able to get out what we have done.

I am not upset or anything, but this is not fading anything. It has to do with the fact that myself and my family have been living in about 10 square meters for the last 3 months and that space has been full of dust and building shit with no windows because the walls have been knocked out. I have only had my laptop with the loss of my professional recording gear. Keith has been editing the show which he had not done before. I started a new job in which I have been pulling anything from 10 - 12 hour days plus my own time on week ends. To top it all off a permanent headache that is only just starting to fade after 4 and a half weeks…

Our other hosts have been busy as well, we all have day jobs and Cait has been so busy that we have had but one email from her in 2 weeks. KD has been working week ends as well. Just the other day he was up until 3 am doing work crap.

Al that started after we launched the new site.

So yeah things have been a bit slow round here the last few weeks. There has been a LOT going on that we have not shared. But generally I thought I was keeping you guys in the loop as far as what the status was.

The very thing that we were trying to prevent by keeping the communication lines open and the thing that was a great concern was that listeners might think that we were disappearing and loosing interest. NOPE. Life got in the way.

We will be resuming weekly episodes soon and the production schedule will be better. Sorry if the perception has been that we are “Pod-Fading” but that just is not the case. A lot of work has gone into building the site, the community and the show. We are not about to waste that hard work and we value the community that we have here.

We appreciate everyone that is a part of the show, including you - this is not directed at you but I am sure that there might be more than one that is thinking what you pointed at.

Just give me some time to let the dust settle, literally.

  5. I think you’re doin pretty darn good for a crazy man livin out of a box, Dave, so keep it up! Cait actually sent me a Tweet the other day! And KD…he’s the man.

So 17 people where I work just bought the big layoff train today, all thanks to the US economy raping our Canadian economy. So I imagine I will learn what “tense” means in the coming months…

As if I didn’t already have enough problems.

  6. @Dave I seem to have struck a nerve here.

I unreservedly apologize if I have offended you or the other hosts.

I reality I am amazed at the lengths you guys go to to make this podcast etc happen. It was really just a flippant reference to the TPN DPS fiasco, another podcast I used to enjoy listening to :-(

Please keep doing what you are doing as I enjoy the show very much and would hate to think my offhand comments may cause people think you and your crew are not committed to that you do. I do realize life has a habit of throwing everything at you at the same time and something has to give and usually staying alive and fed come first.

  7. Don’t sweat it dude. Just been having a tough time of it lately. Trying to find the time for everything has been pretty tough.

No need to apologize - as I said: We have put a lot of work into preventing that thinking and if your saying it, even as a joke then there must be a few that are actually thinking that. I wanted to squash that right in the head.

I appreciate the clarification mate. No love lost seriously!!! I really value your comments and input.

Your right though, you probably pushed a button that is best left right alone atm :) I can acknowledge that as well.

Tis OK I feel loved again :P
Yeah the DPS thing… Sad. Michael has been in touch via email and he is amazed himself at the response by Cam.

  8. No dramas… the best thing about the AGP is that you can communicate with your listeners through this and the forums etc so we know you haven’t just walked off the face of the planet! Have you rediscovered your computers under the layer of builder’s dust yet?

Just a practical note though… how are you all going to cope with the new time difference post DST? Isn’t it rather difficult to find a bit of useable daytime in both Aus and Canadia? As much as we love KDM live, we would certainly forgive him doing a bit of pre-recording if he wanted a lie in! :)

  9. 1st: planning to start setting up the office on Friday night, after the carpet :)

2nd: Yup daylight saving is a bitch for the show. But the advantage with the new office is that we will be able to record whenever we like. I don’t have to avoid kids for example. So we are planning to do the show in daylight hours here making it early - mid evening in Canada :)

Don’t mention the building dust - scary shit… I am dreading dusting everything. But I am going to take the lot down to Dad’s place and flog the compressor for 1/2 hour and blow the crap out of everything… hoping that will prevent any problems before they start :P

  10. Keith should make it easy on you and just emigrate =).

  11. I agree

  12. Just make sure he does not bring any more of that “rock snot” with him ;-)
