Stunt Plane Loses Wing, Disaster?
OK so it is not so much a geek story, but I was so blown away at this video that I just had to share it.
This video is amazing and not in the way that you are probably thinking. But I am pretty sure the pilot will be laundering the flight suit.
I could ramble on but it won’t do this justice, just watch…
There are claims that the video is fake. I don’t have a clue, but going on the scream of panic I would say it just might be real. Any aviation buffs out there have an opinion? I am hoping that my brother takes a look, he is a pilot and has flown for years and I am sure might be able to help us out.
If it is fake, it is a pretty good one.

Brings a whole new meaning to “on a wing and a prayer,” eh?
Hating to be a hater, but fake.
The landing is too “bump” and it sounded more like a remote control plane to start with.
Its a fake, a good one that for sure, but a fake.
The reason?
Look at the prop when it stops near the end of the video, props don’t stop that smoothly.
I’m talking about right at the very last second the prop stops suddenly still rotating slightly to the left then smoothly returns back to its resting position.
That is called a spline motion curve in 3D graphics terms basically the animator forgot that there was a remaining spline at the end of the sequence, or didn’t notice it, but its a dead giveaway.
Oh that and the fact that the landing background is used as a loop, you see the same hanger, all be it only for a split second at the point where the wheels first touch the ground.
FAKE FAKE FAKE. Was on the news the other night and I thought it was fake from the start.
I am not saying the news is always right, in fact they often are not. Or that your wrong. BUT, that might give the story some more credibility, depending on how you look at it.
It was real!

As a commercail pilot I am fully aware of aerodynamics and if you were to loose a wing, the aircraft would decend into a deadly spin. an aircraft needs lift on both sides hence 2 wing.
No way this could be a fake. The plane clearly loses its wing, the plane is life sized not a model and everyone can clearly see that the plane is missing one of its wings. If this was a fake, I truly wouldn’t believe anything on the web was real!
@Carlos - If that indeed is the case, how then would you explain and F15 Eagle which landed with only one wing?
