  1. iPhone!!
Glad to see you like your iPhone Dave! Is it a 8 or 16GB? I have the white one, and it stays clean. The black one shows smugdes I found. I used a crap ZTE phone thing the other day, and I missed my iPhone so much. I now keep updated with feeds and check twitter as often as I can. I had never done that before.

The moon was big and the seas were high! I thought I must have drunk something funny after seeing the moon the other day. The seas were very high to. I was down at the local beach on Saturday and was getting hammered with waves at low tide! This never even happens at high tide!
    Check this link out:

That’s my local, and where you see the steel barrier with water past it, that ain’t meant to happen! Quite bizzare!

That NAS adapter is truely awesome. And it is bloody good value to!

I am now a firefox user after all the IE crap. I found the way it essentially copied everything from my IE (Favourites, cookies etc) and overrided the IE logo, was just great. I was originally just going to use it temporairily, but I now think Ill keep it.
Great show once again!!*throws mug at Dave*

P.S Merry Christmas to you all, have a good holiday and stay safe!

  2. That was a happening episode! Although I’m wondering why there was a lack of bloopers… either KD is causing all the bloopers (Ha!) or Dave thought the show was running long enough without them…

That NAS adapter would be very useful although they want $30 US to ship it to Canada which reduces it’s usefulness quite a lot. I’ve contacted them to see if they have a Canadian distributor. I can see them being very popular, although I imagine you will still be limited to a USB 2.0 transfer speed.

That was also a happening song at the end. I will have to check into that band a bit more.

“Jaffa throwing mugs” … well apparently a “jaffie” is a toasted sandwich and a “mug” is a “a fool, one easily duped or to imitate”

So we are apparently sandwich throwing fools. (Perhaps there’s a reference in there about monkeys flinging things? Hrm.)

Zeitgeist: (”zight” like “sight” but with a z) zight-guy-st. Listen here.

    Well…that’s just grouse!

  3. Thanks guys!

Too bad there were no bloopers at the end. I guess your level of professionalism is so high now that you don’t make mistakes anymore.

I second Herne’s opinion on Zeitgeist. ‘ei’ is the ‘I’ sound. Cait completely butchered that word :-D

  4. Good episode guys. Downloading the Two Schooner, but from listening to these podcasts two schooners sounds way over Daves limit.

A Schooner is called a Pint in some states which isn’t to be confused with an Imperial Pint which is a 550mls from memory.

The days of Butchers and Ponys are long gone though.

The things you learn from working in Mines!

  5. On the good side… I got out and did some exercise. I wasn’t going to go for a walk today but saw the AGP was waiting for me in iTunes so I changed my mind and went out for a long walk to listen to it.

On the bad side… the Wii break came just as I was walking over the Harbour Bridge. I needed a wee, and having you mention the word Wii every 10 seconds really didn’t help matters. The rest of my walk was cross-legged. (Probably not the done thing to take a leak by the side of the pavement in the middle of the bridge, what with all the security cameras and guards!)

I second/third the zeitgeist pronunciation… german is phonetic and ei always sounds like a long i. Unlike English which has so many different rules and exceptions I’m amazed anyone can speak it as a second language. To go off on a tangent… there are 7 different pronunciations in English of “OUGH” for example. Through, Thought, Though, Thorough, Cough, Bough, Tough, plus a few less common ones.

In NSW a schooner is 425ml and a middy 285ml, in VIC and QLD they call a middy a pot, and in VIC they seem to deal in 570ml pints rather than schooners…

iView is great. Does it work overseas do you know? Annoyingly the BBC’s equivalent doesn’t work outside the UK - there’s a licence fee to watch “free” television there and they don’t want people overseas watching without paying the licence fee the stingy buggers.

  6. Dave!

Are you going to quickp0wn/failbrake the iPhone 3G?

  7. Great show guys, sorry I couldn’t be there. And if memory serves I did provide some notice about my not being there a few weeks ago. :P

I’ll have some thoughts on WP 2.7, but I can save those for the next show if you feel like discussing it some more.

Thanks to Raf & Tom for correcting Zeitgeist, now I don’t have to. :P

Looking forward to getting back behind the mic for AGP #012.

  8. Oh yes… totally forgot iPhone iPhone iPhone! Glad you like it Dave… I’ve got the white one, and it doesn’t get dirty - I keep it in a foofpod though which I can’t recommend enough. I tried a variety of cases and that, combined with a screen protector, works the best for me. Looking forward to the new iPhone app section. ;)

  9. Thanks for the great comments guys. Yup I love my iPhone. And no I have no intention of jailbreaking it - had no need to. As yet - that might change though.

Sorry there were no bloopers but we were a bit heavy this week and I had to omit them… stay tuned for next week.

Yes KD I remember now that you DID say that - but it was fun making stuff up :)

Oh and BTW Herne - A Jaffa is not a sandwich - it is confectionery:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffas_(candy)

Just so you don’t go miss quoting me again with your translations…

  10. Thanks for that clarification Dave, I will add it to my Australian syllabus! :P

Although the Wiki article talks about “Jaffa rolling” and nothing about throwing… Hrm.

(I still think he called us a bunch of monkeys flinging poop.)

  11. I just had to mention that I was watching the PhotoshopUserTV podcast this morning and Scott Kelby (President of the NAPP) mentioned Scott Sherman and Michael Stein’s new podcast, Digital Photography Life at the end of their show. And Scott didn’t have anything good to say about TPN. That’s huge props to Scott and Michael there man, getting mentioned by Scott Kelby on his podcast.

  12. Great show as always! Some comments.

    Re: Censorship
Blatant self-promotion. Took this on Saturday

    Re: GM - Kinda
    Ford’s CEO on twitter. Kinda.

    Re: Wordpress
The changes for 2.7 are supposed to take it through until at least 2.9. That’s why they’re so profound.

    Cheers,

PS: hope the links don’t cause this comment to get caught in the spaminator.

  13. Dave, thanks for the mention for the Lifestyle PodNetwork, and guys thanks for the feedback on 2Schooners! We have a website too for your comments (Herne of course has already been there and marked his spot), check out http://www.twoschooners.com or http://www.2schooners.com (take your pick!)

  14. That Herne sure gets around, doesn’t he? ;P

TwoSchooners is a good bit of chat. Amusing and bite-sized (20 minutes or so) conversations.

And you’ll be happy to know that it’s showing up on Canadian iTunes now!

  15. Here’s my review of Two Schooners posted in Canadian iTunes;

  16. Hrm… is everyone dead or out Xmas shopping?

    I hope you’re buying me something nice. I’d really like a PS3 and a big flat screen TV… C’mon! I’ve been good!

  17. Well if you weren’t so mysterious Herne we could google-stalk you and find out your postal address to send the presents to. Sadly I think we’ve missed the last posting date now. Oh well, next year. :P

  18. For those in Europe, a Jaffa is a bit like Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

  19. A Jaffa is more like a round marble sized Smartie (I would say M&M but Jaffas can get gooey if held in your hand too long like a Smartie).

Dave - you don’t need outtakes they’re already included in the show. I liked your comment “even government members in government are against it” (comment on the internet filtering). I’m glad you liked the ABC link I see that iiNet, Westnet and IPrimus also have unmetered access (as well as Internode).

Tom - nice explanation of beer glass sizes. 2 Schooners = 3 Pots (Middies) = 1½ Pints

  20. @Tom If you just address it to “The Herne, Canada” they’ll know. ;P

MMmm… Terry’s Chocolate Oranges… I almost bought one of those on the weekend, but I knew I would’ve scarfed the whole thing down before Xmas.

!.5 pints? That’s just wetting your whistle!
