Don’t forget the bloopers at the end of the show! This week it was phone calls and dropped calls on Skype.

Bring back the Mac Lab Rat! No, seriously, I think the Mac content is about right - when stuff happens it happens and you talk about it, when it doesn’t you don’t, which is fair enough.
Just glad that the iPhone bashing has died down now that Dave has got an iPhone!
Thanks for the feedback Tom and the comment - they have been a bit scarce round here lately.
Well as far as the Lab Rat is concerned… we are still trying to decide if that fits and if so where. It was something that KD did not want to continue under the AGP name but he is considering offers
As far as Mac stuff is concerned - well I said our bit in the show. But if the iPhone deserves a bashing it will get it. What we did say about the iPhone I still stand by. It does have it’s limitations. Multitasking and flash to name the big two for me. Copy and paste probably a 3rd but a minor one (a lot of apps build this in in some way). But for the most part very happy with it as a phone and a device. I am feeling much more connected these days
Cheers mate and I hope that there are more comments to come!
Just listened to some of the show while watering the garden (this drought in Victoria is really bad).
I note the talk about a search engine that can pick up text from podcasts (along those lines anyway). This was done a few years back by Podzinger which has now change name to Everyzing (http://www.everyzing.com/). They have just picked up Revision 3 as a client. They used to have a search function that would search the internet, but appear to be going site specific now as a business model.
Matt! Thanks Mate! I could not remember the name of that service for the life of me! Thanks for the update of the service as well. Great to see the technology evolving and not just going under. I did know that they no longer existed under the same name.
Cheers!
These week for some reason a took notes as to what I was going to say.
I agree with Keith as using IE a a back up for getting to the net and believe it or not some sites are IE only
won’t Apple still be Apple with out Steve Jobs? yes he is the “face” of Apple but in years to come he will fade out to be replaced by someone else.
Well done to the Apps store for this milestone.
with the screen cast, you can set up(in windows) to be able to show where the mouse is.
@Frank on the IE only thing - some sites really are IE only as they foolishly use calls to Windows using Active X, but some sites have stupid ignorant designers who just restrict it needlessly (although there’s less and less of this around than there was).
For the latter Safari (and I’m sure Firefox too) can pretend to be IE. On Safari, go to Preferences->Advanced and select Show Develop Menu. Then you get a Develop menu in the main menu bar - from this select User Agent and you have a choice of three or four versions of the main browsers. Sometimes that’s enough to fool a site, sometimes not! I’m sure there’s a way, directly or with a plugin, to do that in FF too.
The extension is called IETab Tom and it works a treat
I’m typeing this from an IE page and it is hopeless! Runing out of air- have to go back to Firefox!!!
Thanks for the show guys!
Weird Sea Critters are cute as hell!
There are a lot of misconceptions about iphone sales.
The N95 alone has nearly doubled iPhone sales. S60 3rd sold over 15 million in one quarter. Apple counts upgrades as a download! One app on my touch updates every week. That’s about 4 updates for one app. Clearly 500 million is closer to 200 million.
The G1 hit 1 million sold in less time than the ip0wn!
btw - How about KW in a “HTC lab rat” section?
Here’s an idea you can tear apart if you like. You’ve probably discussed it before.
How about a short Linux segment instead of the Mac Lab Rat? If you guys are truly cross-platform and Aussie geeks, there should be room for this on the show. It could be like the Lab Rat format suggesting 2 or 3 recommended applications for say a Ubuntu install. Who could do it? Hmmm let me see… What about KW if he’s willing? The Word from the Wise doesn’t have to be a weekly rant. Perhaps KW could recommend some Ubuntu applications that he thinks are essential for anyone getting started.
I just think that Linux is starting to gain ground these days especially through netbook sales and perhaps there’s a demand in your listenership for it.
One thing I like about the AGP is its broad tech coverage so I think a short Linux segment would improve the show even further.
No such thing as a bad idea thanks - all ideas are worth considering
@Thanks Raf
Great show as always geeks. Has their ever been a figure that meant so much to a company like Steve Jobs is to Apple?
With regards to the feedback you received about too much Apple stuff especially since you got an iPhone, I say screw them. You can’t please everyone. You talk about Windows, Apple, Linux and all of them depending on what is making the news that week. It all balances out in the end, well maybe not for Linux stuff.
I have to admit, listening to Keiths Mac Lab Rat update every week was interesting because I would get hyped up about a piece of software he describes only to be letdown when I remembered it’s for Macs only. But you know, MACs are the BMWs of computing and their price certainly reflects that. People who own a MAC tell others to get a MAC but some of us techies are not so lucky to have a million dollars to spend on such a device. And for those who say purchase a Macbook, what a waste of money. If you’re going to go down that route, might as well get the pro.
I wonder how much owning a Macbook Pro is simply just a status symbol saying hey look, I have lots of money and am well off! I’ve been pretty content with my sub $1,000 HP Notebook with Windowx XP.
