Podcast Schedule Update
Well we hit this year running and were going great. We even got people commenting that we were bringing them out faster than they could listen to episodes. Now we have hit a snag, a temporary one but a snag all the same and I wanted to fill in our valued listeners.
Last week we did not get a show out because I was working late both days that Keith and Cait were available. So last week was not even remotely possible.
This week we were all geared up to do a show and Keith was held up with prior commitments that he could not change. The time difference there adds a layer of complexity as well. In addition he is getting on a plane tomorrow and is going AWOL for the week. So that excluded a mid week recording time.
Cait has had unique demands on her related to her new job. The Victorian fires have also affected us here. I got an email from Cait 2 days ago in which she indicated that due to the fires her work was extremely busy and that she was going to be unavailable for a while. Well until things settle down, the “when” she does not know.
So between work, circumstances, timezones, disasters and life in general things have gone to pot. None of the above is anyone’s fault and I am not saying that it is. Yes, I am disappointed that I have been unable to get a show out for a few weeks. In many ways I feel like I am letting listeners down. I feel bad to say the least.
Rest assured that I have not let up in my efforts to get us all in sync and every host has felt the same. I would like to say that we can record next week but I am yet to touch base with everyone and hammer out a time.
I hope that everyone can appreciate the position that we are in and stays with us.
Even though all this is going on with the AGP I am still podcasting. 2Schooners on the LifeStyle PodNetwork is doing very well and James and I are having a blast doing it. In addition Episode 11 of Podcasters’ Emporium came out yesterday and I can honestly say that is gold for podcasters wanting to make their show better. I wish I had a show like that when I was starting out.
So I find myself once again saying I’m sorry. We will get there I am sure.

Maybe we could chuck some of the herne’s greatest hits in the feed ! That will keep people entertained ;p
Hey Dave, it’s posts like these that truly show your dedicated to not only the show, but your fans/listeners as well. I don’t really have expectations for you or the show. Keith is no longer the co-host of WordPress Weekly because of the time difference between him being west coast and myself being east coast. So I can only imagine what having international hosts is like. I like the idea of having Tim or Knightwise as backup hosts but perhaps you could find a few more backups with relatively good skype audio quality to fill in from time to time.
I have the show subscribed in iTunes so whenever the next episode is out, I’ll get it, eventually
Dave,
Thanks for keeping us updated. This is another way the AGP shows it cares about their listeners. Most Podcasters don’t provide any updates when they go missing for a bit. We all understand and appreciate the time and effort you all put into sharing your ideas is your own without remuneration.
For a fix we can keep occupied with 2schooners, Podcaster’s Emporium and a reinvigorated Knightwise. We’ll be here when you guys return.
We understand - you’re more regular than the majority anyway, and iTunes will do its thing when you’re ready!
You could stick an old GGP in the feed to keep us entertained! Or Herne has promised me a song, so as KW suggests, play some of his “Best of” album!
Waitaminute…I have a “best of”? What was that line about polishing a turd?
Yeah, I agree with other comments, how about KW and/or Tim hop on and to another blokes AGP? Or maybe throw up GGP #001 into the feed or something just for kicks?
I wish I had something interesting I could pass along… I’ve been thinking about doing an audio rant about eBook readers, but I was also thinking about getting a new mic before I got into that end of things.
No worries guys, but we’ll expect something extra special in the bloopers when you return!
(Some people may have missed my last two eBook rants over on theherne.com…)
I was thinking along the same lines as Herne. Maybe throw in the first episode of the global geek podcast just for kicks. Then perhaps we can get a listen to how much the show has improved since then. Also good for memories.
Hey Dave
Gotta say you guys are the best, firstly giving out an awesome podcast FOR FREE and then apologise for not being able to do it! I do a lot of driving so I get a number of podcasts but the AGP is by far the best and the one I look forward to the most. Hope you guys can get together again soon, but we’re patient - it’s well worth the wait.
Cheers, and I hope those Aussie fires will all be out soon - feel for you guys. Al from NZ.
Kind words guys and I and the other hosts appreciate it. A lot. I know that we produce the show for free, but I must say that over time you feel very obligated to keep them coming. I appreciate the allowances and support!
Rest assured that we are here and very eager to get things moving again. I am not expecting it to be long before that happens.
As far as chucking the 1st episode of the GGP into the feed… well I might do it. The thing that concerns me is not how bad it is but the fact that someone new to the site might think it is the usual show that comes out here… plus it is a “bit” embarrassing!!! If enough people ask for it I might do it, might. Okay?
You should do an excerpt show one day… “Looking back at the GGP” or somethin… would be fun.
Do I want to purchase a decent mic? Hrm…
Hey Dave, you could always put in a disclaimer at the beginning of the show explaining what the episode is all about thereby informing first time and regular listeners. This could also give you a chance to provide a short and concise history lesson to first time or relatively new listeners. Some of them may think that the AGP is brand new and nothing existed before hand when that is not the case.
