AGP #028 [71:32m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Welcome to the AGP for another round of News and bad maths, Dave takes full responsibility for the math. Although there were others involved, no prizes for guessing. I was told the maths was “right”…

I am positive though that I am right in saying that this is a great show, so please enjoy!

  1. Regarding computer passwords;
They have something in the USA called the “5th Amendment,” which is part of the Bill of Rights that basically says that people have the right to “refuse to answer a question because the response could provide self-incriminating evidence of an illegal conduct punished by fines, penalties or forfeiture.”

We have something similar in Canada under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which states that “one cannot be compelled to be a witness in a proceeding against oneself.”

I assume there is something similar in Australia.

So basically if I encrypt my computer so that it requires a password in order to view the files on the hard drive, and law enforcement officials can’t crack my encryption then they cannot force me to give them the password to the evidence on my computer that may or may not incriminate me, nor can I be held in custody on the grounds that I would not provide the password.

    YMMV

  2. If a simple app totally trashes your system it could be a .NET issue

ps - I heard S60 devices outsold the iPud so put that in your pipe

A shame normal people want simple rather than an extensible platform so those devices are often not used

Can we go back to The Hernia for music?

    - Love Eric

  3. Wow, you’re all back and in one piece - thank goodness for that. Great show again and I’m glad to hear that it will become more regular again.

Note to Dave: You’ve got the new job now so you can fix up your gravatar to something a little less pensive

  4. OK OK I changed it… It looks a bit cheezy… I don’t think I can win…

  5. Welcome back guys.

    Re the show
    1. I lol’d at Daves anonymity.
    2. I recently got a new quad core pc with the bells and whistles and got vista 64 bit. Never had a problem with vista over the few months before the upgrade came out. Upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7 and its a POS. It continuously lags etc. I tried upgrading software etc, and even turned off the indexer, but alas the lagging is back albeit not as bad.

May have to do a full format as its practically unusable, hangs on boot etc.
    3. Re feedemon, i too have noticed that it is getting system intensive.

    Keep up the good work!
